UK Students Have High Rankings on Math Test Scores

Parents in Northern Ireland have helped their children rank high in maths according to the Trends in International Maths and Science Study.

Close to two-thirds of parents work with their kids in maths and English before they ever start primary school. This major difference has ranked Northern Ireland students seventh out of 64 countries and regions around the world. They are only behind Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Russia, and Taiwan.

Education in UK

About 600,000 aged nine and ten students took tests in 2019 in 64 countries. In Northern Ireland about 4,500 students in 150 schools took part in the testing. Although the ranking was not as high as for maths, the primary students in Northern Ireland also ranked high in science. None of the primary schools in the country where the students were tested have a dedicated science laboratory. However, according to Dr. Michael Martin from Boston College, the entire education system in Northern Ireland compared well with other countries. He said children in Northern Ireland go to schools where an emphasis is placed on academic success and the parents are very satisfied with the schools.

Students have a good sense of belonging in school, as in other countries. The teachers are well-educated, with degrees and around 15 percent have post-graduate degrees, Martin reported. The UK is a great place to raise a family and children’s education is a high priority. Contact UK Immigration Consultants today and begin the path to a new life.
